So titled because it was premeired in a series of two gigs by the Paul Dietrich Jazz Ensemble, one of which was on Leap Day (February 29, 2024), "Leap" is a challenging and exciting piece for an advanced collegiate or professional band. A piece that switches mid-stream from 6/8 to 4/4 and then back, it features a solo for guitar and another for alto sax that builds to a frenzied conclusion.
